Big Drama filly rolls in Gulfstream MdSpWt

Rontos Lily went to the lead at the break and never looked back en route to a 2 ¾-length maiden special weight contest Thursday at Gulfstream Park.

With five stakes horses, including $300,000 Affirmed S. winner Tribal Drama, in his first crop, Big Drama’s progeny earnings in 2015 are nearly $800,000, ranking him in the top 10 on the 2015 North American First-Crop Sire list and second in the state of Florida.

Rontos Lily, who placed in the Nov. 7 $100,000 Juvenile Fillies Sprint at Gulfstream, was too much for her foes in Thursday’s one mile contest, her first try on the turf in four lifetime starts (VIDEO).

The winner is owned by Rontos Racing Stable Partnership and was bred in Florida by M375 Thoroughbreds. The filly’s dam Platinum Tiara was a three-time stakes winner and finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).
