Big Drama filly storms home on Gulfstream turf

Determined Lady kicked into high gear in the final sixteenth of a mile to break her maiden over the Gulfstream Park turf course on Apr. 28. The 3-year-old filly by Big Drama is the tenth winner this year for her sire, who ranks third on Florida's Second-Crop Sire list.

Tracking in fourth for most of the one-mile trip, Determined Lady was some five-wide coming into the stretch, and despite being forced even wider by an erratic Thanks to Life, Determined Lady re-rallied in the last sixteenth to come home a half-length winner over Sweet Ella, who was less than a length ahead of another Big Drama protege in Ms. Violette.

Determined Lady is owned by her breeder Harold Queen. The Florida-bred is out of Lemon Pie, a sister to stakes winner Leatareese.
