First winner for freshman sire Backtalk

Bridlewood’s multiple graded stakes winnerBacktalk was represented by his first winner Sept. 20 at Gulfstream Park when Sasstalk cruised to a 3 ¼-length maiden score going 5 ½-furlongs.

The winner owned by his breeder GoldMark Farm and trained by Ralph Nicks, took control after a quarter mile and opened up by a half-dozen lengths in the stretch before coasting home an easy winner.

Backtalk was a two-time graded stakes winner at two, taking the historic Sanford S. (G2) at Saratoga, as well as the Bashford Manor S. (G3) at Churchill Downs, where he also broke his maiden in his debut. He is the leading money earner at stud by dual Classic winner Smarty Jones.
