Firster Miss Big Stuff takes MdSpWt at Del Mar

Miss Big Stuff burst out of the gate on top and never looked back on her way to a six furlong maiden special weight victory Sunday afternoon at Del Mar.

The 2-year-old filly is Big Drama’s seventh winner from his first crop, second-best among all freshman sires. He is also third on the Freshman Sire progeny earnings list with $328,640 to date.

Miss Big Stuff popped out of the gate and went right to the front, with Good for It hot on her heels through an opening quarter mile in :22.27 seconds. That duo would run one-two the entire way, with Miss Big Stuff coming out a half-length to the good in 1:10.21. It was some 13 lengths back to the third-place finisher (VIDEO).

The winner was bred in Florida by Champion Equine LLC. She is out of Red Hot Star, whose dam Airistar was an eight-time stakes winner of $572,898.
