John Malone, Owner of Bridlewood Farm, Acquires Ballylinch Stud

John Malone's Bridlewood Farm has purchased Ballylinch Stud in Ireland. Malone, along with his wife Leslie, acquired Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Florida, in August 2013.

"We are delighted to become involved with Ballylinch and (Managing Director) John O’Connor and his staff," John Malone commented. "We were attracted to Ballylinch by its strong reputation, built over many years. Leslie and I look forward to continuing the development of Ballylinch into a premier European farm."

Killeen Group Holdings, the former owners of Ballylinch Stud, have decided to exit the bloodstock industry in Ireland.

The Mahony Family, owners of Killeen, commented in release that "it is particularly pleased to have completed the sale of Ballylinch Stud to John and Leslie Malone, given their longstanding commitment to, and international standing in, the bloodstock industry. The fostering of Ballylinch Stud, through investment and expansion, was a key project of the late Dr. Tim Mahony, and it was a personal delight for him to have seen Ballylinch’s reputation soar internationally."

"The Killeen Group believes that the timing was right for this sale, given the rapidly improving economic climate, the positive outlook for the bloodstock industry in Europe and Ballylinch’s significant recent successes, all of which have combined to deliver an environment which sees the Stud trading strongly."

Ballylinch Stud is the current home to leading European freshman sire Lope de Vega (Ire) as well as Beat Hollow (GB), Dream Ahead, Intense Focus, Lawman (Fr).
