First winner for freshman sire Corfu

I’m Corfu scored a convincing 2 3/4-length maiden special weight victory on May 13 at Presque Isle Downs to become the first winner for Bridlewood Farm’s freshman sire Corfu.

Corfu, son of perennial leading sire Malibu Moon, was a record-setting winner of the Saratoga Special S. (G2) and was himself a Barretts 2-year-old sales-topper at $675,000. His first crop are 2-year-olds of 2017.

I’m Corfu had the lead the entire way on Tuesday evening, drawing off in the stretch after a mild challenge mid-race by Summer Gems. Owned and trained by Wayne Rice, I’m Corfu covered the distance in :58.19 (VIDEO).

The winner was bred in Florida by Donna Burnham.

Corfu is standing this year at Bridlewood for a fee of $3,500, live foal.
