LUGAMO by Chitu out of Shegoestoeleven Headed for UAE Derby

LUGAMO, 2018 colt by Baoma Corp stallion CHITU, will run in the Dubai World Cup on March 27, 2021 at Meydan Racecourse, United Arab Emirates.
LUGAMO is currently being trained by Antonio Sano at Gulfstream Park, despite racing to date in Maryland with Rodolfo Sanchez-Salomon as trainer.
Nov. 14, 2020 LUGAMO placed third in the James F. Lewis III Stakes at Laurel Park followed by a short layoff. Since then, Racing Manager, Alassandro Sano notes the horse has been training exceptionally well in the mornings. Sano and owner, Louis Gavingnano/Lugamo Racing Stable, LLC, hope to see continued success with the colt.
Due to the Covid pandemic cancelling last year’s Dubai World Cup, U.S. representative Stephan Nagler has confirmed that the 2021 UAE Derby purse will be U.S $750,000.  Road to the Kentucky Derby points for the race are 100-40-20-10.  The UAE Derby is carded as race #5 and remains a Grade II event at 1900 meters, approximately 1 mile and 3/16.
