Multiple G2 winner Aikenite to Bridlewood

Aikenite, the brilliantly fast multiple Grade 2 winner and multiple Breeders’ Cup contender, will stand at John & Leslie Malone’s Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, FL for the 2015 breeding season.

Raced by Dogwood Stable and trained by Todd Pletcher, Aikenite was a multiple Graded stakes performer at two, three and four, who earned $875,385, and competed in Breeders’ Cup races for three consecutive years. Top class at two and a Triple Crown contender at three, Aikenite would blaze to victory in back-to-back Grade 2 events at four, including a five-length defeat of Wise Dan in the Commonwealth S. (G2) at Keeneland. He also won the Churchill Downs H. (G2) over a top field on Kentucky Derby Day in his subsequent start.

Bred in Florida by Brylynn Farm, Aikenite has a pedigree rich in success in the Sunshine State. He’s by Yes It’s True out of the Saint Ballado mare Silverado.

“Aikenite is that rare blend of brilliance and soundness so needed in our industry, and he’s a gorgeous horse to look at,” said Bridlewood general manager George G. Isaacs. “He was precocious enough to win his debut at Saratoga, and had enough stamina to place in a nine-furlong Grade 2 on the Triple Crown trail. He won two important seven-furlong stakes at four, and finished his career with 24 starts from coast to coast. He is also an excellent outcross for Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector, and with his strong Florida ties I feel he makes a great addition to the Bridlewood stallion ranks.”

Aikenite joins Backtalk, Benny the Bull, Corfu, Fort Loudon, Mach Ride, and Wagon Limit on Bridlewood’s 2015 stallion roster. For further inquiries, please contact George G. Isaacs at 352-622-5319, or visit BridlewoodFarm.com.
